80-Year-Old Driver Collides Head-On With Truck After Overtaking Tractor

Collision Sequence

Preliminary police investigations indicate that an 80-year-old driver of a Renault passenger car was overtaking a Case tractor with a trailer, operated by a 35-year-old man. During the overtaking maneuver, the 80-year-old collided head-on with an oncoming Man truck.

The road was blocked for six hours following the accident, and police organized detours via local roads.

Injuries and Response

The drivers of the car and tractor, along with a passenger in the car, were taken to the hospital.

Hitchhiker Involved

Unofficial reports indicate that the 80-year-old driver had picked up a hitchhiker shortly before the accident and was driving him to his destination. A helicopter crew from the LPR, two ZRM crews, and four fire department units intervened at the scene.
