83-Year-Old Drives Wrong Way on S7, Collides with 70-Year-Old in Mazda

An 83-year-old driver ignored traffic signs and drove against traffic on S7, colliding with another vehicle.

Incident Details

On Saturday, February 21 after 11 AM, a dangerous collision occurred on the S7 expressway near Kazuń Nowy in the Czosnów commune. An 83-year-old resident of Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki was driving a Smart car against traffic when he collided with a Mazda driven by a 70-year-old Warsaw resident.

The incident happened on a key section of the S7 highway where transit traffic is often intense, specifically in the area of the Czosnów junction and near Kazuń.

Investigation Findings

Preliminary findings indicate the 83-year-old driver ignored a B-2 “no entry” sign before entering the expressway in the wrong direction. This directly led to the collision with the properly traveling Mazda.

Despite the appearance of a serious accident, no injuries were reported. Both drivers were found to be sober at the time of the incident.

Response and Aftermath

Police and fire services, including firefighters from OSP Kazuń Polski and OSP Czosnów, as well as crews from JRG Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki, responded to the scene. A road service was also dispatched.

The 83-year-old driver was issued a fine for causing the incident by violating traffic regulations.
