Polish authorities have charged Patryk M., known as Wielki Bu, with participation in an organized crime group and significant narcotics trafficking, amid efforts to extradite him from Germany.
Charges Against Wielki Bu
The National Prosecutor’s Office in Poland has stated that the charges against Wielki Bu include participation in an organized crime group active from July 2017 to 2018 in Gdańsk, other locations in Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland, the Netherlands, and Spain. The group’s activities aimed at importing, purchasing, and trading large quantities of narcotics and psychotropic substances, contravening Polish narcotics legislation.
The charges also involve theft with breaking into a vehicle and altering its identification markings, in collaboration with another individual.
Extradition Process
Patryk M. is currently in custody in Hamburg, Germany, following his arrest on September 12. A German court has imposed a detention order based on a European Arrest Warrant. A decision on his extradition to Poland is expected within two months.
Legal Representation and Bail
Wielki Bu’s lawyer, Krzysztof Ways, has applied to a Lublin court for a letter of guarantee, which would allow his client to remain free on bail while the case proceeds. Ways argues that his client has not evaded authorities, citing his public social media presence, and proposes a high bail to ensure his client’s availability for prosecution.
Background of the Arrest
According to Polish police, Wielki Bu was apprehended at Hamburg airport just before his planned departure to the United Arab Emirates. The operation was a race against time to arrest him within the European Union, as his detention under the European Arrest Warrant would not have been possible if he had left the EU.
