Russia’s Foreign Minister Accuses NATO and EU of Waging War via Ukraine

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov claimed NATO and the EU declared war on Russia through Ukraine during a G20 meeting in New York.

Lavrov’s Allegations at G20 Summit

Sergey Lavrov, Russia’s Foreign Minister, participated in a G20 foreign ministers’ meeting in New York on September 25. He repeated claims that the “collective West” provoked the war in Ukraine, stating that NATO and the EU had declared “a real war” on Russia through Ukraine and were directly involved.

Criticism of Western “Neocolonial Ambitions”

Lavrov asserted that Western actions regarding the Ukraine war were driven by “neocolonial ambitions,” leading to global instability and escalating regional conflicts. He linked the escalation in the Middle East to violations of the UN Charter.

Humanitarian Crisis in Gaza

During his speech, Lavrov discussed the war in Gaza, calling it an “unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe” with 65,000 deaths. He cited UN officials suggesting the death toll might be ten times higher, adding that no neighbor of Israel could feel secure.
