Nawrocki on Trump’s remarks: A turning point

Polish President Karol Nawrocki warns of a firm response to Russian provocations, including downing drones, after Trump’s comments on NATO actions.

Polish military prepared to counter Russian drones

Karol Nawrocki announced that Polish forces, in coordination with allies and his approval, will neutralize Russian drones threatening Poland if they ignore warnings to leave airspace. He emphasized that Poland will not tolerate border violations, backed by a 200,000-strong military and NATO support, including from the U.S.

Reaction to Trump’s statement on NATO

Nawrocki called Trump’s endorsement of shooting down Russian aircraft violating NATO airspace “groundbreaking.” As commander-in-chief, he stressed that Poland’s borders are inviolable. Trump had previously stated that NATO allies should down such aircraft, though U.S. support would depend on circumstances.

Planned Russian drone incursions

Nawrocki dismissed the September 9–10 Russian drone incursions as deliberate, citing evidence that Poland and NATO allies like Estonia and Romania have also faced similar breaches. He framed these as tests of NATO’s resolve, urging unity against Russia’s escalations.
