Recordings Reveal Disturbing Abuse in Daycare Center: Trial of Olsztyn Caregiver Begins

A secret recording exposed a caregiver allegedly abusing children, leading to a criminal trial in Olsztyn.

Secret Recordings Expose Abuse

An investigation began after coworkers secretly recorded a colleague, Magdalena S., allegedly lifting toddlers by one arm, throwing them on the floor, and striking their faces. The recordings, which also captured screams and insults, were sent to the daycare management and then to prosecutors, revealing the abuse.

Parents Express Shock and Betrayal

Parents expressed outrage and disappointment, many having trusted the caregiver with their children. “Such things should never happen in a daycare. We trusted the caregivers to keep our children safe, but reality proved otherwise,” one parent told Fakt.

Trial Held Behind Closed Doors

To protect the privacy of the underage victims, the court decided to hold the trial in closed session. Prosecutors accuse Magdalena S. of abusing 15 children aged 1 to 3, facing up to 8 years in prison.

Defendant Denies Allegations

Magdalena S. denies the charges. Her lawyer, Joanna Niemczak, argues the case is not black-and-white, describing her client as a valued employee loved by staff, children, and parents. The trial is ongoing, with the court evaluating the credibility of the recordings and witness testimonies.
