Gazeta.pl Confirms Petru Aims to Replace Hołownia – “I Know How to Do It”

Polish politician Ryszard Petru announced his bid to become chairman of the Polska 2050 party, stating he can reclaim voters lost in 2023 and will replace Szymon Hołownia.

Petru Announces Bid for Polska 2050 Chair

Ryszard Petru posted on social media that he has decided to run for chairman of the Polska 2050 party, claiming the party can regain the voters who turned to them in 2023.

He asserted, “I know how to do it” and vowed to lead the party while replacing long‑time chair Szymon Hołownia.

Return to Roots and Entrepreneurial Focus

Petru said the party should return to its foundational principles—entrepreneurship, prudent energy transition, and targeted social policy that addresses the problems of specific people.

He emphasized the need to rebuild a “Poland that is entrepreneurial, green and caring for the needy.”

Coalition Cooperation and Policy Implementation

He described the party’s role as supporting the coalition by implementing its programmatic proposals and securing broader backing for the coalition.

Petru stressed a desire for assertive yet conciliatory cooperation within the coalition, with compromises sought internally rather than in the media, because voters will not forgive confrontation or votes that go against the government’s position.

Gazeta.pl Confirms Petru’s Plans

The newspaper’s earlier report by Marta Rawicz noted that Petru wanted to replace Hołownia, calling him an experienced politician who has learned from past mistakes.

Petru added that “today he is an entirely different person” compared to years ago, and that several MPs in the party were former members of the Modern party.

Context of the 2023 Election

Petru refers to the 2023 election as a point where the party lost supporters, and he aims to reclaim them through the proposed strategy.
