Trump Denounces Medvedev and Threatens With Submarines

On Tuesday, September 30, Donald Trump announced that he had dispatched “one or two submarines” toward Russia’s coast. He claimed the vessels were nuclear‑powered and “un‑detectable”, and he called Dmitry Medvedev a “dumb man”. Trump also referenced a double‑n word, implying “nuclear” and a racial slur.

Medvedev Mocked Trump’s Submarine Claims

In a post on X, Medvedev ridiculed Trump, calling it a “new episode of a thriller”. He said the U.S. had not actually sent nuclear‑armed submarines as Trump had promised, and quipped that the “black cat” was impossible to find in a dark room because it didn’t exist.

Early August U.S. Submarine Deployment Statement

In early August, Trump confirmed that U.S. nuclear submarines were “closer to Russia” and that two would be positioned in strategic regions near Russia. He said the move was a reaction to statements from former Russian president Dmitry Medvedev.

Medvedev Warns About Possible Conflict

Medvedev, deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council, warned that Trump’s ultimatum over Ukraine could spark an armed conflict between the United States and Russia. He described the situation as a “move toward war—not with Ukraine, but with the U.S.”.
