Fire Forces Residents of Koszalin Block to Stay Away from Home

A fire on the second floor of a building on Moniuszkiewicza Street in Koszalin injured nine people, including two children, and left the stairwell unusable, forcing residents to stay away from their homes.

Fire and Injuries

A blaze erupted in a block on Moniuszkiewicza Street on Tuesday, 30 September, injuring nine people. Two were in critical condition and one elderly woman was reanimated. Two children suffered smoke inhalation.

Stairwell Declared Unusable

The stairwell of the building was found unsuitable for use, preventing residents from returning to their apartments. Seventy‑five people were inside at the time of the fire; 35 left on their own, while 40 were evacuated by rescue services.

Emergency Response Actions

Six squads of the city fire department arrived at the scene. Firefighters used mechanical ladders to evacuate occupants from the floor above the blaze and transferred one person to medical rescuers.

Evacuation and Relocation

All residents of the affected flats relocated to relatives’ homes. No temporary housing prepared by municipal authorities was utilized.
