Approach by Unidentified Ships
The International flotilla Global Sumud, aiming to deliver aid to the Gaza Strip, received reports from Reuters that on 1 October some of its vessels were approached by unidentified ships.
Alleged Dangerous Manoeuvres and Communication Damage
Social‑media footage suggests the approaching vessels performed “dangerous manoeuvres” and reportedly damaged the flotilla’s communication systems before departing.
MP Denies False Alarm
Deputy Knesset MP Franciszek Sterczewski, present at the incident, stated that the vessels were military ships and that the situation was not a false alarm.
Flotilla Moves Into Blockaded Zone
During the incident the flotilla was approaching the maritime zone under Israel’s blockade. The organization has no intention of yielding to the threat.
Statement from Global Sumud
Global Sumud declared that it is continuing its voyage toward Gaza, approaching 120 nautical miles near areas where previous flotillas were seized or attacked.
