41 Drivers Arrested in Capital Police’s “Sober Morning” Sweep

Operation Scope

Police from the capital’s battalion conducted the “Sober Morning” operation in the early hours, targeting the largest possible number of motorists across major roads and bridge crossings.

Key Findings

By 10:00, 17,995 drivers were checked, revealing 41 individuals under the influence of alcohol. Two more drivers were caught using alcohol‑like substances, and six others were driving without a licence.

Notable Cases

Among those arrested was a Toyota driver who, despite a lifetime ban, drove with a 2.5 ‰ blood alcohol level. A professional trucker operating a Volvo was also found with almost .1 ‰ BAC.

Penalties Imposed

Police issued fines totaling 11,120 złoty to drivers who broke traffic regulations.

The operation highlights the grave danger of drunk driving, which severely impairs reaction time, concentration, and situational judgment, leading to collisions, accidents, and fatalities. “Be responsible! If you drink, don’t drive!” urges the Road Traffic Division of the Polish Police.
