Polish Aid Convoy Detained by Israel; Four Members Captured

Four Polish aid convoy members were seized by Israeli forces during a Gaza humanitarian mission, sparking calls from Polish officials for intervention.

Polish Delegation Detained

The convoy’s four members—MP Franciszek Sterczewski, activist Nina Ptak, journalist Ewa Jasiewicz, and activist Omar Faris—were taken by Israeli soldiers, officials say.

Statement by Global Movement Spokesperson

Rafał Krawczyk clarified on TVN24 that all Polish delegation members were seized, labeling the action a “public violation of international law” and a war crime. He noted the participants had prepared for non-confrontation and that they were uncertain about a safe return.

Flotilla Composition and Polish-Flagged Boats

Under the Polish flag, nine vessels were part of the flotilla. Krawczyk said all were either detained or at risk of being boarded by Israeli forces.

Israeli Foreign Ministry Response

The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that some flotilla ships had been stopped and passengers were transported to an Israeli port. The ministry also reported that Greta Thunberg and her “friends” were safe on one ship, and that seized participants would be deported to Europe.

Polish Foreign Ministry Monitoring

The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it was monitoring the situation, keeping consular services in contact with Israeli authorities, and would act within the bounds of law and wartime realities to protect Polish citizens.
