Nord Stream Sabotage: Wife of Arrested Ukrainian Defends Husband

Poland has temporarily arrested a Ukrainian former military officer accused of sabotaging the Nord Stream pipeline; his wife says he is innocent and shares details of their life.

Wife Declares Husband Innocent

Julianna, the wife of the man suspected of detonating the Nord Stream gas pipe, states she knows her husband and believes he did not commit the act, recalling their normal life in Poland.

Background of the Accused

Julianna reports that Wołodymyr Z. served as a military accountant in his youth and practiced deep‑sea diving only as a hobby.

Family’s Reaction to Arrest

The family was surprised by the arrest, noting they are not Polish citizens and were unsure of their rights; he voluntarily gave himself into custody.

German authorities sought him over alleged sabotage, building explosion and fire; the wife claims she did not see the arrest warrant issued last year. The Warsaw District Court ordered a seven‑day temporary detention on 2 October.

Detention in Poland

He is currently held in temporary custody in Poland as investigations continue.
