Putin Rebukes U.S. on Tomahawk Transfer, Calls It “New Stage of Escalation”

Russian President Vladimir Putin warned the United States that a potential transfer of Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine would sever relations and ignite another escalation, while Washington confirms it is weighing the sale.

Putin Rebukes U.S. Over Tomahawk Transfer

Russian President Vladimir Putin reacted to reports that the United States is considering transferring Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, which could strike deep Russian targets. He said such a move would break U.S.–Russian ties and destroy the positive momentum that had emerged between the two nations.

He also warned that any missiles that land in Russia would be intercepted and announced that Russia will improve its air‑defence system. Putin described the transfer as a “new stage of escalation”.

U.S. Considers Selling Tomahawk Missiles to Ukraine

The United States confirmed that it is weighing a sale of Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made the purchase request at the Copenhagen summit and said he might receive more after his meeting with Donald Trump.

Reuters reports that Washington will not hand over the specific long‑range missiles, but other, shorter‑range variants. Existing Tomahawk stock is reserved for U.S. armed forces and other objectives.

U.S. Set to Share Target Intelligence with Ukraine

A week ago the Wall Street Journal reported that the United States has approved the transfer of intelligence data that will allow Ukraine to strike deep inside Russian targets for the first time. President Trump approved the decision.

With this information Kyiv will be able to hit Russian refineries, gas pipelines, power plants and other energy facilities located within a few hundred kilometres of the border. Sources say this would be the first time Washington openly supports such attacks.
