Renault and Saab Collide at Busy Warsaw Intersection; Traffic Lights Off

A Renault and a Saab collided at the intersection of Grójecka, Wawelska and Kopińska streets in Warsaw’s Ochota district on Sunday, October 5, around 4:30 p.m., after traffic lights failed.

Collision details

A Renault traveling from Wawelska turned left onto Grójecka toward Okęcie, while a Saab went straight from Kopińska onto Wawelska toward Praga, and the two vehicles struck at the intersection.

Traffic signal failure

Witnesses and investigators noted that the traffic lights at the intersection were not functioning at the time of the collision.

Medical response

Firefighters, emergency medical teams and police were dispatched; a passenger in the Renault was taken to a hospital but was discharged the same day.

Police classification

Police classified the incident as a collision and confirmed both drivers were sober.
