When 2026 Winter Holidays Fall? Ministry Announces Shorter Schedule

Poland’s Ministry of National Education announced that in 2026 there will be only three winter‑holiday periods instead of four, reshaping dates across regions.

2026 Winter‑Holiday Structure

In 2026 the Ministry will offer only three rounds of winter holidays, a reduction from the former four rounds.

Regional Allocation of 2026 Breaks

The new schedule will prevent holiday periods from overlapping between Polish voivodeships, although specific dates for each region have not yet been released.

2025 Holiday Schedule for Context

For reference, 2025’s holidays were split into four rounds: 20 Jan‑2 Feb (Kuyavian‑Pomeranian, Lubusz, Lesser Poland, Świętokrzyskie, Greater Poland); 27 Jan‑9 Feb (Podlaskie, Warmian‑Masurian); 3 Feb‑16 Feb (Lower Silesian, Masovian, Opole, West Pomeranian); 17 Feb‑2 Mar (Lublin, Łódź, Podkarpackie, Pomeranian, Silesian).

Reasons for the Change

Deputy Minister Katarzyna Lubnauer said the adjustment would improve tourist traffic management and reduce “dead weeks” in resorts. Karol Wagner of the Tatra Economic Chamber warned that fewer visitors could overload popular weeks, noting accommodation shortages during peak season could worsen after the change.
