Wołodymyr Z.’s lawyer appealed a temporary arrest in Warsaw, contesting German charges of sabotaging the Nord Stream pipeline, with the detention set to last until November 9.
Appeal Filed
Lawyer Tymoteusz Paprocki has filed an appeal with the Warsaw Court of Appeals against the temporary arrest imposed on his client, Wołodymyr Z. He argues that with such serious accusations coming from Germany, Z. should not be deprived of his freedom in Poland.
Court Decision
On October 6, the Warsaw District Court extended the arrest to 40 days, meaning Wołodymyr Z. could be released only on or after November 9. A court hearing is expected regarding the prosecutor’s request for a European Arrest Warrant issued by German authorities.
Nord Stream Sabotage Allegations
German services suspect Wołodymyr Z. of sabotage, damage, and detonation of the Nord Stream gas pipeline. The incident took place on 26 September 2022 when three of the four strands of Nord Stream 1 and 2, which transport natural gas from Russia to Germany, were destroyed.
Timeline of Events
Investigations began after the 2022 sabotage, leading to the identification and location of Wołodymyr Z. on 30 September 2025.
