Shock at the Emergency Department

Polsat News reported that on Thursday, 7 October, a 30‑year‑old man was brought into the Mielce emergency ward. Staff tested his blood for alcohol, finding a dangerously high result. The patient had more than seven promille in his body. The condition was initially critical, but he improved quickly and was discharged the following day, still under observation.

Medical Risk of High Alcohol Levels

According to the hospital’s press representative, Aneta Dyka‑Urbańska, medically a level above three promille is a serious threat to life and can lead to alcohol coma. Typically, 3–4 promille is a lethal dose. Levels exceeding six promille usually cause loss of consciousness, breathing disturbances, and heart arrest.

She was detained for a few hours and, after sobering, faced charges of driving under the influence. The offense carries up to three years of imprisonment.
