According to the volunteer fire department KSRG OSP Zaręby Kościelne, the incident occurred at around 3:13 a.m. Initial findings suggest the Audi driver lost control, ran off the road, and struck the barrier. Two passengers fell from the car; a 38‑year‑old passenger died at the scene, while a 31‑year‑old passenger was taken to a hospital in Ostrow Mazowiecki.
