A Renault Traffic bus collided head‑on with two cars on Wioslostrada near the Citadel at about 8:40 p.m., injuring six people, including three children.
Head‑On Collision on Wioslostrada
A Renault Traffic bus traveling from Łomianek toward the city center spun onto the opposite lane around 8:40 p.m. and struck head‑on with a Skoda and a Hyundai. Its side doors were torn off during the collision, which also hit a Peugeot on the side.
Emergency Response
Four PSP units, the fire academy commander, the municipal fire brigade operational group, four medical rescue teams and several police patrols arrived on the scene. Six people, three of them children, were taken to hospital.
Traffic Disruption
One lane toward the city center is blocked, while the bridge toward Łomianek is closed, allowing traffic only on a strip beneath the bridge.
Earlier Today’s Incident
The same day a prior collision of two cars on the Citadel height had already blocked one lane toward the city center.
Roadworks and Safety Measures
Between Wenedów and Krasiński streets, Wioslostrada was being reconstructed during the holidays. The work included resurfacing, substructure replacement, drainage modernization, new energy‑absorbing barriers, and straightening and widening a curve at Cujna street to improve turn radius and visibility. Recent accidents suggest the measures have not fully mitigated risks.
History of Accidents at the Curve
The curve beneath the Citadel and the junction with Krasiński street—popularly called the “death curve”—has seen frequent incidents for months, including a collision with barriers and a lamp post without casualties.
