Tusk Responds to Fans’ Chants
On Monday, 13 October, Tusk addressed the offensive slogans shouted toward him at the Poland‑Lithuania game. He wrote on X that PiS politicians questioned whether he translated for the Lithuanian prime minister all the chants from the stands. Tusk denied translating the vulgar slogans, stating he had only translated the phrase “Donald matole…”, which he claims helps him win elections.
Offensive Slogans Targeted Tusk During Match
During the Sunday match on 12 October, some Polish fans screamed abusive slogans at Tusk, including “Donald, matole, your government will be toppled by the fans.” A banner was also displayed with Tusk’s picture and the message, “You are not, have not been, will not be a supporter of the Polish national team.” The match was held in Kyiv as part of the World Cup qualification playoffs.
PiS Politicians Comment on the Incident
PiS MPs reacted to the incident. MP Michał Dworczyk posted a video of the stadium and noted that “fans welcomed D. Tusk at the match in Kyiv.” Marcin Przydacz, head of the President’s International Policy Office, said “Donald Tusk has alienated himself” and likened him to an outsider. MP Przemysław Czarnek remarked that the Lithuanian prime minister had witnessed how Polish society treats the alleged destructive prime minister and Polish sport.
