In mid‑October, authorities in Płock County warned that the Górki public water system is contaminated with coliform bacteria, making it unsafe for consumption until enterococci are ruled out.
Contamination detected in Górki water supply
Sanepid in Płock announced that coliform bacteria were found in the Górki public water supply, and the water is deemed unsuitable for drinking until fecal enterococci are excluded. This marks the second similar notification in recent weeks, following a report issued on 24 September.
Sample details and bacterial findings
On 13 October, a sample was collected at the Primary School in Dobrzyków (Obrońców Dobrzykowa 35). The laboratory confirmed the presence of group coliform bacteria but not Escherichia coli; the count of fecal enterococci is still under verification.
Public health restrictions on water use
Until the enterococci are ruled out, tap water must not be drunk, or used for cooking, washing fruits and vegetables, dishwashing, laundry, bathing, tooth brushing, or wound irrigation. It may only be used for toilet flushing.
Community response and supply measures
The Municipality of Gąbin and village heads informed residents via the official website and local announcements. Bottled water for consumption and sanitation is being distributed by village heads and through the OSP Dobrzyków and OSP Troszyn Polski stations. The water network has been chlorinated and flushed, and further testing will follow. Primary school and preschool activities in Dobrzyków, Borki, and neighboring villages continue normally with safety measures.
Earlier September incident and remedial actions
On 24 September, a similar case was reported (Communication no. 28/2025). PPIS in Płock detected enterococci (1 CFU/100 ml versus the parameter 0 CFU/100 ml) in a sample taken at the ‘Zajazd nad Wisłą’ point, Jordanów 17C. During the remedial period, schools in Dobrzyków and Borki, local preschools and the nursery were closed, bottled water was distributed, and the network was flushed. The water met normal parameters again by 1 October, a week later.
Ongoing monitoring and contact information
The city provides information on drinking water quality and on‑call PSSE contacts in its communiqués, including the hours during which sanitary service numbers are available. Until new laboratory results are released, the described restrictions and guidelines remain in force.
