New Details on Katarzyna Stoparczyk Accident: Prosecutor Reveals

Prosecutor Piotr Walkowicz has released fresh information on the S19 Jeżów crash that killed journalist Katarzyna Stoparczyk on September 5.

Prosecutor’s Statement

District prosecutor Piotr Walkowicz told Fakta that investigators cannot question the 61‑year‑old white Skoda driver who survived the S19 collision in Jeżów (Nysa district, Podkarpackie). His inability is due to health issues. Investigators possess blood‑alcohol test results and are analyzing them with other evidence and the rescue and medical actions that followed the incident.

Status after Witness Interviews

Investigators have completed witness interviews that may yield new leads. They continue to deepen this material, as additional witnesses have supplied further clues and tasks to be undertaken, thereby generating further evidence.

Details of Fatal Accident

The accident occurred on September 5 before 15:00 on the S19 expressway, with the journalist seated in the rear. Two vehicles were involved; the slower car, driven by a 61‑year‑old whose engine was failing, was struck from behind by a faster vehicle traveling in the same direction.

The impact caused the deaths of two passengers, including the journalist, and injured three others.
