Poles Back Partnered Relationships, New Poll Shows

A TVN24‑published poll shows 54% of Poles favor introducing partner‑relationship law, 34% oppose, conducted Oct 13‑14 among 1,001 adults.

Poll Reveals Majority Support for Partnered Relationships

In a survey conducted by Opinia24 on Oct 13–14, 1,001 Polish adults answered whether they support the introduction of legally recognised partner‑relationships. Fifty‑four percent said yes, 34 percent opposed, and 12 percent were undecided. The mixed‑mode method used phone interviews and online questionnaires and the results were released by TVN24.

Earlier this week the Greater Left (Lewica) and Polish People’s Party (PSL) negotiated a settlement on partner‑relationships, although details remain undisclosed. Final talks took place in the Sejm on Oct 7 between both party caucuses and later between their leaders, Włodzimierz Czarzasty and Władysław Kosiniak‑Kamysz.

Draft Legislation Set for Parliamentary Debate

Władysław Kosiniak‑Kamysz said that establishing partner‑relationships and accompanying benefits is a vital issue and praised the compromise achieved. Co‑chairman Włodzimierz Czarzasty highlighted the work of MPs Katarzyna Kotuli (Lewica) and Urszula Pasławska (PSL) in unifying the proposals. If the bill reaches Parliament soon, it could be considered on the next session, Oct 15.
