On October 12, a 46‑year‑old truck driver was fatally bitten by three dogs in Racula, west Poland, and prosecutors have now filed formal charges against the former policeman who owned them.
Prosecutor Charges Former Officer in Fatal Dog Attack
Polish prosecutors have formally charged the former policeman with causing serious bodily harm that led to the 46‑year‑old truck driver’s death after being mauled by three dogs in Racula on 12 October.
The indictment alleges the suspect knew his dogs could be dangerous, failed to secure them, and had previously been warned that Swiss‑type shepherds were aggressive and had escaped past enclosures.
He has been requested to be held in pre‑trial detention for three months, with the court expected to decide by Friday, 17 October.
Dogs Placed in Temporary Shelter for Behavioral Observation
The animals are currently housed in a special temporary facility where behaviorists will monitor them over a three‑month period.
Experts will evaluate their physical and mental condition, nutrition status, and vaccination records, confirming that they were vaccinated but verifying details.
Investigators Probe Conditions and Aggression of the Canines
Investigators will examine the living conditions at the nearby shooting range, the dogs’ escape incidents, and the owner’s role in anticipating potential future attacks.
Behavioral analysts expect to provide evidence of the dogs’ aggressive tendencies in the forthcoming findings.
