Molotov Cocktail Thrown at Warsaw Civic Platform Office

On Friday October 17, two men hurled a Molotov cocktail at the Civic Platform’s Warsaw office, but the device failed to ignite and no one was injured.

Incident Details

The attack happened on Friday evening, 17 October, in a building near the Sejm that houses the Civic Platform office. Two men allegedly threw a Molotov cocktail at the entrance, which exploded outside but did not ignite. No injuries were reported, and the perpetrators fled the scene.

Perpetrators’ Actions

Witness statements describe the attackers shouting hateful slogans aimed at Conservative Platform politicians before hurling the bottle toward the building’s door. The bottle broke just outside the entrance, and a customer tried to push the attacker back, resulting in a brief struggle.

Political Reactions

KO MP Witold Zembaczyński called the incident a “scandal” and accused the assailants of “terror‑politycal” aggression. He said the attack was clearly directed at the PO office, citing the address, the manner of the assault, and the anti‑PO chants shouted by the attackers.
