Prime Minister Donald Tusk spoke forcefully at the 14th European Forum of New Ideas in Sopot on October 17, addressing a Molotov cocktail attack on Platform Obywatelska offices, the Bąkiewicz protest, and war’s nature.
Premier on EFNI
On Friday evening, Donald Tusk visited the 14th European Forum of New Ideas in Sopot, an event organised under the theme “War or Peace.” The forum concentrated on Europe’s future in the face of demographic, geopolitical, economic, and technological challenges. Tusk said the day illustrates what war and peace look like, noting a trip to Olsztyn where a young couple welcomed a baby named Ola through an in‑vitro fertilisation procedure.
Tusk: This Is Also a Dimension of War
During his address, Tusk linked the Polish court’s decision to release Oleksander Z., accused by Germans of sabotaging the NordStream pipeline, to the notion that a Ukrainian fighting Russia deserves honour rather than arrest. He also referenced an incident in which a man attempted to set fire to the party’s Warsaw headquarters with a Molotov cocktail, describing it as a “dimension of war.” Tusk warned that fundamental disputes within Poland, Europe, and worldwide must be addressed with full awareness of their gravity.

Parliamentary MP KOWitold Zembaczyński said the suspects fled the scene, while MP Paweł Bliźniuk reported that a bottle of flammable material broke before the entrance. Police are investigating the incident.
