A police emergency bus collided with a Toyota passenger vehicle at the intersection of Marszałkowska and Wspólna in Warsaw, knocking five people, including four officers, out of commission.
Accident scene
The collision occurred at the intersection of Marszałkowska and Wspólna streets in central Warsaw. The police emergency bus, marked with flashing lights and a siren, entered the intersection on a red light and struck a Toyota passenger car that was moving straight through the intersection.
Vehicles involved
The emergency bus was a Mercedes bus equipped with emergency signaling equipment. The other vehicle was a Toyota passenger car driven by a foreigner. Both vehicles suffered extensive damage, deemed beyond repair.
Injuries
Five people were injured. The driver of the Toyota was hospitalized, and four police officers traveling in the bus were wounded. The impact also damaged traffic infrastructure, including a pedestrian signal, a road sign, and a traffic pylon.
Investigation and traffic control
Firefighters, medical teams, police patrols, and traffic officials from ZTM responded. Traffic was blocked in both directions toward Bankowy Square and Mokotów. Officers are currently investigating the exact sequence of events as they approached an incident only a few hundred meters away.
