Polish Police Arrest 44‑Year‑Old for Threatening Tusk and Attempted Arson at PO Office

A 44‑year‑old Polish citizen was detained on Oct. 17 after threatening PM Donald Tusk on X and setting fire to a Molotov cocktail near the Platforma Obywatelska office at 12A Ulica Wiejska, Warsaw.

Arrest and Charges

The Capital Police and the Warsaw I Regional Police Command arrested the suspect in Warsaw on 20 October. He faces charges of making criminal threats and attempting to set fire to the building.

Attempted Arson Incident

On Friday 17 October at about 14:20, a Molotov cocktail was thrown toward the PO office. The attacker attempted to ignite it, and when a nearby restaurant patron shouted at him, the assailant struck him with broken glass and fled.

Witness Account

Deputy PO MP Witold Zembaczyński recounted that the attacker shouted insults, invoked “Robert Bąkiewicz” and “napalm,” and the atmosphere felt dramatic and shocking.

Political Reaction

Minister of Interior Marcin Kierwiński declared that the perpetrators would not go unpunished, while the PO MP criticised PiS officials for failing to denounce the hate speech.
