On 20 October, PiS MP Przemysław Wipler noted that President Karol Nawrocki shares programmatic and aesthetic similarities with the Confederation, suggesting he might act as a mediator in a Senate pact with the ruling PiS.
Wipler’s Assessment of President Nawrocki
Przemysław Wipler said that President Nawrocki is a “mental confederate” and that his 21‑point program mirrors the 20‑point program of Confederation leader Sławomir Mentzen, indicating a programmatic and aesthetic alignment.
He highlighted age similarities between the president and Confederation members, adding that Nawrocki’s main interests lie beyond PiS and that a future reelection would require him to keep strong ties with Mentzen and Bosak.
Potential Senate Pact Between PiS and Confederation
Wipler explained that if a Senate pact materialized, Nawrocki would act as a mediator, deciding where Confederation candidates would run and ensuring the pact’s promises were upheld.
Mentzen’s Comments on a Senate Pact
Earlier, Confederation leader Sławomir Mentzen spoke of a possible Senate pact with PiS that could be established before the upcoming parliamentary elections. He noted that President Nawrocki understood the situation and would take responsibility to bring the parties closer.
Confederation politicians warned that negotiating with Jarosław Kaczyński about such a pact could be extremely difficult.
Kaczyński Rejects a Confederation Alliance
In early September, PiS chairman Jarosław Kaczyński addressed the possibility of a coalition with the Confederation, stating that a party promoting social Darwinism is incompatible with the party that created a mechanism of real social solidarity.
He declared there would be no coalition with Mentzen, citing a lack of sufficient similarity to form an alliance.
