Israeli firm CGI Group claimed on October 20 that the Louvre had asked it to investigate a theft, but the museum on Tuesday denied any contact.
Israeli Firm Boasts, Louvre Denies
CGI Group, based in Tel Aviv, told AFP that the Louvre requested its help after a reported robbery and theft. The firm said it was asked to disclose who was involved and to recover stolen artifacts, according to CEO Zvika Naveh’s interview on October 20.
The Louvre’s press office replied that no correspondence had taken place with CGI regarding any investigation.
It Is Not First Time
CGI previously claimed that the Louvre had sought its aid after successfully recovering stolen items from a German gallery in 2019, during the assault on the Grünes Gewölbe in Dresden. The Munich police prosecutor denied any collaboration with CGI in that case.
Sensational Claims Disavowed
After the Dresden robbery, CGI reported being approached by individuals claiming possession of two stolen jewels, allegedly offered for sale at €9 million in Bitcoin. Prosecutors said there was no evidence the jewelry had been offered for sale.
