Polish MPs Submit NBP Personnel Review Request to NIK

Polish MPs have filed a formal request with the National Bank’s regulator, NIK, to conduct an interim audit of the bank’s personnel policies from 2016 to 2025, amid accusations of high‑profile hires.

MPs Submit Request to NIK for NBP Audit

Polish Members of Parliament, led by European Parliament member Michał Szczerba, addressed a urgently‑submitted request to the President of the National Bank Issue Control (NIK). The brief seeks a provisional review of the National Bank of Poland’s (NBP) personnel policy covering the years 2016‑2025, with special attention to the hiring of advisers.

Allegations of Former First Lady’s Alleged Appointment

TVN24 has reported that a screenshot of the NBP’s staff listing reportedly named former first lady Agata Kornhauser‑Duda as an “advisor to the president” in the bank’s General Department. The bank denied the claim, and the former first lady’s own records no longer show her name in the system.

NBP Denies Employment of Agata Kornhauser‑Duda

Press secretary Maciej Antes released a statement to Polish Radio and later to the public platform X, affirming that Agata Kornhauser‑Duda is not employed by the NBP. The bank requested the swift retraction of any articles or titles that mislead the public about her employment status.

Additional Claims of Advisory Role for Andrzej Dera

TVN24 also identified former Secretary of State Andrzej Dera as a prospective adviser to the NBP. The bank’s spokesperson did not comment on this allegation.
