Patient Attacks Doctor, Blocks Exit and Holds Stethoscope to Neck

A 36‑year‑old patient in a Warsaw clinic on Monday blocked the doctor’s exit, attacked him and forced a stethoscope around his neck; police arrested her that afternoon.

Incident Description

In the early afternoon, a patient at a medical office on Praga Północ confronted the attending doctor, preventing him from leaving the examination room. When the doctor refused to alter her medical record, she physically attacked him and clamped a stethoscope around his neck.

Police Response

Within minutes of the report, local police arrived, questioned the medical staff, and seized the patient. The doctor managed to free himself and immediately alerted nurses, who called for law enforcement.

The patient has been charged with assaulting a public official, a crime punishable by up to three years’ imprisonment. The case is under the purview of the Warsaw – Praga Północ District Prosecutor’s Office.

Medical Staff Protection

Authorities reminded that medical personnel enjoy the same legal safeguards as public officials, and that any assault or violation of bodily integrity against a healthcare provider carries criminal liability.
