Tusk Accuses Court President of Pegasus Surveillance
On Thursday, Prime Minister Donald Tusk wrote on social media that the President of the Constitutional Court had allegedly carried out Pegasus surveillance on the prime minister’s family. He asserted that former PiS prosecutor Bogdan Święczkowski had become court president, implying a conflict of interest under the Kaczyński‑Duda era.
Court President Responds With Defamation Claim
President Bogdan Święczkowski replied on X, announcing plans to file a lawsuit against Tusk for defamation. He described the accusations as “perfidy lies” and “cynical manipulation of emotions,” and criticized the remarks as insulting and deplorable, expressing sympathy for the “instrumentally treated” Tusk family.
Anticipated Legal Action
Święczkowski stated he would seek damages for violation of personal rights and emphasized that the allegations were an affront to his reputation and to the integrity of the Constitutional Court.
