A 20‑year‑old driver struck and killed a 46‑year‑old cyclist in a fatal collision on Thursday night near Łączan in the Wierzbica municipality, authorities say.

On Thursday, 23 October, before 21:00, the crash occurred on the road between Podsuliszka and Zalesic near the village of Łączan in the municipality of Wierzbica.
Vehicle and Cyclist Details
The driver was operating a Volkswagen and was sober; a blood sample was taken for further tests. The cyclist was travelling in the same direction and sustained fatal injuries despite emergency resuscitation.
Police Investigation
Police officers, supervised by a prosecutor, were on site while preliminary findings suggested the collision happened while the driver was overtaking.
