European Prosecutor’s Office Charges Politicians from Nowy Sącz

On October 23 the European Prosecution Service charged six Nowy Sącz officials, including the mayor and deputy mayor, for alleged abuse of authority and damage to public interest.

The Central Anti‑Corruption Bureau had already arrested the mayor, Ludomir Handzel, and deputy mayor Artur Bochenek earlier in the week. The arrests occurred on Tuesday morning in the city hall.

Recent Arrests

On October 23 the European Prosecutor’s Office formally charged the six arrested persons. Police confirmed that the suspects had already heard the accusations.
