Police Impersonators Cuff Residents, Loot Valuable Home in Kępna

Six men masquerading as police cuffed residents and stole valuables from a Kępna house, prompting a 20 October 2025 raid that police say mirrors incursions in Warsaw and Kobyłka.

Kępna Home Raid and Initial Arrests

Police from the Poznań Provincial Police Headquarters arrested six suspects for robbery at a Kępna house on 14 May 2025. On 20 October, at dawn, officers—supported by counter‑terror units—entered five apartments in Pomerania and Lower Silesia. Four men faced robbery charges, and the District Court in Kępna imposed a three‑month pre‑trial detention.

Citizen Inquiry Exposes Plot

Investigations revealed that the attackers knocked on the Kępna door early that morning, presented themselves as police, and showed a purported prosecutor’s search warrant. They demanded the “containment” of cash and jewelry, then, under the pretense of legitimate action, shackled residents. When one assailant monitored the family, the others looted rooms, taking jewelry, precious stones, and metals worth more than 200 000 zł.

The plot came to light when a woman called the Kępna on‑duty officer, asking when police would return with restraints removed. The officer was initially confused but grew convinced that real police had no involvement.

Joint Operation on 20 October

After several months of material analysis, investigators from Poznań worked with the Kępna District Prosecutor’s Office to plan the raid. On 20 October, police joined forces with counter‑terror detachments from Poznań, Gdańsk, Olsztyn, and Wrocław to force entry into five premises. Six persons—five men and a woman aged 32‑44—were detained. Firearms and hazardous tools were seized, and some had prior records for theft and assault.

Four arrested men were charged with coordinated robbery. The District Court in Kępna imposed a provisional three‑month arrest. Under the described modus operandi, robbery carries a maximum penalty of 15 years’ imprisonment. The Kępna District Prosecutor’s Office continues the investigation.

Similar Attacks in Warsaw and Kobyłka

At the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025, similar escalation tactics were reported in Warsaw and Kobyłka. In Warsaw, attackers disguised as police, a border guard, and a food supplier entered a central‑city flat, cuffed Ukrainian women, and looted about one million zł in various currencies. In Kobyłka on 13 February 2025, perpetrators infiltrated a family home, shackled residents, and stole gold, cash, and jewelry worth roughly one million zł. Victims appealed to neighbors for surveillance footage.

Investigating a Possible Connection

All incidents share a common scheme: police‑branded attire, fake warrants, swift incapacitation with restraints, and theft of high‑value liquid assets. Operations are timed for early morning or evening to surprise victims, and attackers coordinate roles. Whether the three cases involve the same perpetrators remains unclear. Identifying the perpetrators of the May robbery could be pivotal in solving the Warsaw and Kobyłka attacks.
