On October 27, Polish MP Robert Telus was suspended by his party after allegations that 160 hectares of land vital to the Central Communication Port were sold through a controversial transaction.
Televised Protest over CPW Land Deal
In an interview on TV Replic, MP Robert Telus claimed the sale of land vital for the Central Communication Port was a political manoeuvre. He accused the opposition of targeting him as retaliation for his opposition to the Mercosur agreement, adding that he had no prior knowledge of the transaction.
Party Expulsions Follow Investigation
The same day, PiS spokesperson announced that Telus and fellow MP Rafał Romanowski were suspended from the party. The move came after reports that the Ministry of Agriculture had approved the sale of 160 hectares to the president of Dawtona.
Details of the 160‑Hectare Sale
The plot, originally owned by the National Agricultural Support Centre, was sold for 22.8 million Polish zloty. Sources say the parcel’s value could rise to as much as 400 million zloty once developed, giving the transaction additional significance.
Telus Denies Involvement
Telus said he was unaware of the sale and that if he had known he would have opposed it. He also suggested the case was used to divert attention from the Mercosur deal and that a different foreign company might not have triggered the scandal.
