Trzaskowski Faces PiS Accusations Over CPK Land Sale

Polish Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski defends himself against allegations from the ruling PiS party that he was involved in selling a 160‑hectare plot for the Central Communication Port, calling the accusations baseless.

Plot Sale Scandal: Trzaskowski Accused by PiS

Polish mayor Rafał Trzaskowski says he was unfairly targeted by the ruling Polish Law and Justice party over the sale of a 160‑hectare parcel of land earmarked for the Central Communication Port (CPK). He claims the accusations amount to a desperate attempt to shift blame. The parcel was bought by the company Dawtona for 22.8 million złoty shortly before the PiS takeover in 2023.

Interrogation on Polsat News

During the “Graffiti” program on Polsat News, host asked Trzaskowski whether he had any involvement in selling the land to a company that later financed his campaign. Trzaskowski dismissed the suggestion as groundless, stating that the decisions were made by PiS officials during their administration.

Charges Against Mateusz Morawiecki

Former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki also faced scrutiny when he posted a clip questioning the role of special services in the current government’s affairs and alleged payments to Trzaskowski’s campaign. Trzaskowski replied that such claims are “evidently absurd” and that the PiS government merely extended its own tenure by a month.

Robert Telus Suspended Over Sale

Robert Telus, former Minister of Agriculture who approved the land purchase, was suspended from PiS. He denied having knowledge of the transaction and said he was unaware of the plot’s sale. The agriculture ministry had previously owned the land via the National Agricultural Support Centre.

Potential Value Surge of the Plot

Experts estimate that the land’s value could rise more than tenfold as the CPK project progresses, possibly reaching 400 million złoty. The sale was deemed transparent and publicly disclosed, according to Telus’s statements.
