European Prosecutor’s Office Suspends New Sanc Mayor Over EU‑Funded Tender Inquiry

The European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) suspended the mayor of New Sanc and two senior city officials from official duties today amid an investigation into a partially EU‑funded tender, announced on October 28.

The European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) office in Katowice decided today to suspend the mayor of New Sanc, one of his deputies, and another high‑ranking city official from official duties. This is part of precautionary measures under Polish law, related to an ongoing investigation into a tender partially funded by the European Union.

The announcement was issued on Tuesday, 28 October.

Restrictions and claims of innocence

According to the Institute for the Improvement of Administrative Record (IAR), Ludomir Handzel and Artur Bochenek are barred from entering the city hall premises and from contacting specified individuals.

Both officials claim they are innocent.
