A Belarusian interviewed by Polish media said he would fight for Poland in a war, sparking a viral TikTok clip and a national survey on Polish willingness to defend the country.

Belarusian says he would fight for Poland

The interviewee, a Belarusian who left the country for political reasons, explained that although he is not a Polish citizen, he would be willing to join the fight if it were necessary. He voiced the sentiment in a TikTok video that quickly spread across the internet.

Second respondent’s stance

The second person interviewed said he would not flee in a conflict and that fighting might be an option, adding that he is preparing himself physically and is not ruling it out.

Poles’ readiness survey

At the end of September, the Institute of Market and Social Research (IBRiS) conducted a survey on behalf of Radio ZET, questioning 1,067 Poles about their willingness to defend the country in a threat scenario. 20.7% answered “definitely yes”, 24.1% “rather yes”, 31.2% “rather no” and 17.9% “definitely no”, while 6.1% were unsure or could not say.
