Halloween Treats Turn into Horror: Children Find Needles Inside Candies

In Konin, a child’s trick‑or‑treat bag of sweets contained a needle, sparking widespread alarm after similar incidents emerged in Łódź and Warsaw.

Children’s Trick‑or‑Treat Turns Deadly

During this year’s Halloween, a boy from the Zator neighborhood in Konin returned home with a bag full of sweets. When he and his family began inspecting the treats together, they discovered a needle inside one of the candies. He was not the only child to encounter the dangerous “surprise.” Another resident of Konin also found a needle in a candy received by her son.

Similar Incidents Reported in Warsaw and Łódź

In Łódź, a boy found a needle in a chocolate candy in the Bałuty district. Fortunately he had not eaten it, after a teacher had previously urged parents to cut sweets in half before consumption. In Warsaw, a mother posted a photo of her son’s blood‑stained face after he bit into a chocolate candy that contained a sewing needle that lacerated his lip.

Stand‑Up Comedian Alerts Parents

Comedian Aleksandra Radomska, who collected sweets for her daughter during Halloween, later discovered metal needles in several candies. She warned parents on Facebook that her daughter had received sweets with needles from multiple people, including a very kind elderly woman, and urged them to check their children’s treats before eating. Radomska reported the matter to the police.

Police Investigate and Warn Parents

Police in Konin confirmed receipt of complaints about suspicious sweets. Investigators are determining who could have inserted the needles and under what circumstances the children acquired them. The police have urged parents to examine all candies after trick‑or‑treat events before children consume them.
