Charges Filed Against 43‑Year‑Old in Smogorzewie Shooting

The district prosecutor in Poznań concluded the interrogation of Łukasz W., who was present at a shooting that occurred on Sunday evening, November 2. Four counts of attempted murder with a CZ Shadow 9×19 pistol were presented. Investigators determined that the man fired several rounds at cars and their occupants, injuring two men in one vehicle.

One victim sustained abdominal wounds and remains hospitalized; the other was treated for hand injuries.

Łukasz W.’s Statement and Alleged Self‑Defense

Łukasz W. denied guilt, claiming he was attacked by men who arrived at his property and that he was merely protecting himself. He said he attempted to aim shots upward or at the attackers’ legs, and that he did not know the men. For certain questions the prosecutor noted he responded with uncertain memory or indicated emotional influence.

A motion for his temporary arrest will be sent to the court.

Investigation Findings

According to Łukasz W’s testimony and preliminary evidence, four cars with unknown men approached his estate on the night of November 2, prompting him to fire at them. He then attempted to return to his car and chase the men toward Piaski. When one vehicle suddenly entered a ditch, Łukasz W fired again at two men who were moving away.

Prosecutors contend he caused the vehicle’s loss of control, contrary to Łukasz W’s claim. He also says he tried to help the injured, advised bystanders to call 112, and spoke to a radio operator. In addition to Łukasz W, four other men were apprehended. They originated from the Lubusz Voivodeship, were previously recorded in police files, and no weapons were found with them. Their statements remain with the prosecutor.
