The award will recognize exceptional actions for peace. The first laureate will be announced on December 5 during the group draw for next year’s World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Infantino Emphasizes Sport’s Peace Symbolism

Gianni Infantino, FIFA’s chief, highlighted the importance of acknowledging individuals who unite people and end conflicts. He stated that football symbolizes peace and that the prize would spotlight those who bring hope to future generations. Infantino frames the initiative as part of a wider campaign to position football as a global dialogue force and notes that while sport cannot resolve conflicts, it can convey a message of peace.

Ivanka Trump’s Role in Educational Project

Trump’s daughter, Ivanka, was appointed to the board of a $100 million educational project, partly financed from U.S. World Cup ticket sales. The 2026 World Cup will run from June 11 to July 19.
