Polish conservative parties call on Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro to return from Hungary voluntarily before he is detained, amid looming parliamentary immunity vote.
KO Leaders Condemn Absence
Conservative MP Witold Zembaczyński blasted Ziobro’s absence, recalling his extradition from Hungary and warning that the “short break” will end soon.
Adam Szłapka noted the extradition of former Minister Patryk M. “Wielki Bu,” urging Ziobro to come back before his time abroad is over.
Roman Giertych Calls for Voluntary Comeback
MP Roman Giertych urged Zbigniew Ziobro to “return voluntarily” rather than be caught in handcuffs, calling his defection a “soft zero.”
He cited Giertch’s claim that Ziobro is avoiding voting due to fear of detention.
Opposition Demands Accountability
Left‑wing MP Tomasz Trela described Ziobro as a “man with a guilty conscience.”
MP Alicja Łepkowska‑Gołaś urged him to show courage by attending Parliament.
EU Parliament MP Krzysztof Brejza warned that a fair state rests on equal law, calling for a judicial response to Ziobro’s alleged crimes.
Ziobro’s Budapest Press Conference
On Thursday, Ziobro defended himself in Budapest against the prosecutor’s request to lift his parliamentary immunity.
He claimed that the request was filled with false and absurd allegations, and accused former Justice Minister Donald Tusk’s party of shielding serious criminals.
Parliamentary Proceedings on Immunity
The Sejm’s procedural committee will debate the immunity request at 16:00 Thursday, followed by a plenary vote the next day.
Ziobro faces 26 charges, including organized-crime leadership and defrauding the Justice Fund.
