President Denies 46 Judicial Nominations
On 12 November, President Karol Nawrocki announced he would not sign 46 judicial nominations, stating he would also withhold promotions for judges who question Poland’s constitutional order or heed Minister Waldemar Żurka.
Objection from Opposition: ‘Sabotage’
Senators Krzysztof Kwiatkowski and others argued the decision encourages illegal conduct and contributes to judicial anarchy, labeling it sabotage and a political retaliation rather than a defense of the rule of law.
Support from PiS‑aligned Politicians
PiS representatives praised the action, claiming the president has full constitutional authority to refuse appointments and labeling it a decisive stand against judicial anarchy, while critics such as Roman Giertych contested the president’s authority, arguing that the Justice Minister retains the right to advance judges.
