Białołęka Roads Paralyzed by Delayed Modlińska Repair

The Modlińska–Światowid intersection in Białołęka remains closed on November 12, prolonging road blockages beyond the originally planned night‑time opening.

Status of Intersection During November 12

The intersection of Modlińska and Światowid stayed shut into the evening of November 12, contrary to earlier promises that traffic would resume at night between the 10th and 11th. The continued closure caused a pronounced paralysis of traffic in the northern part of the city.

Drivers Reported Congestion on Connected Roads

From early morning, motorists cited jams on Światowid running from Trakt Nadwiślański toward Modlińska, and on Modlińska heading to the city center between the two ends of Światowid. In the evening, the entire Northern Bridge—from Wisłostrada to Modlińska—was blocked, as was Modlińska from the city center to Światowid. Signage covered only the start date, leaving drivers uncertain about the real finish time.

Planned Timeline for Modlińska Road Works

The municipal schedule set the resurfacing of Modlińska toward Praga‑Północ (between Mehoffera and Światowid) to run from 10:00 pm on Friday, 7 November, until the end of day Wednesday, 12 November. The crossing with Światowid was to reopen during the night of 10 to 11 November.

Actual Delays and Traffic Impact

In practice, the crossing stayed closed on Tuesday and Wednesday (11‑12 November), forcing traffic to detour and congest the approaches to Światowid and the North Bridge. The worst delays were observed during the afternoon and evening peaks of 12 November, with periodic losses of flow at the Mehoffera connector and roundabouts, and hard access into Modlińska from the Tarchomina and Nowodwor estates.

Ongoing Restrictions and Expected Completion

Scheduled for completion by the end of day Wednesday, 12 November, the intersection is still impassable by evening, maintaining detours and limiting capacity on the Modlińska–Światowid–Mehoffera corridor during peak periods.
