Fight in Warsaw Tram Leaves Two Conductors Injured

A confrontation in a line‑33 tram at Rondo Radosława on January 5 left two drivers wounded and a passenger checked at a hospital.

Incident at Rondo Radosława

Just before 16:00 on Al. Jana Pawła II, a fight broke out on tram line 33 at the Rondo Radosława stop.

Initial reports indicate a young man on the autism spectrum assaulted a female passenger.

Injured Conductors

Both conductors rushed to aid the victim but were attacked and sustained injuries.

They were transported to a hospital with bodily harm.

Passenger and Perpetrator

The passenger received on‑site medical attention.

The assailant, declared legally incapacitated, was handed over to his mother for care.

Police and Hospital Response

None of the conductors have filed a report for the assault.

Police are investigating the incident while monitoring tram vehicle footage.

Transport Disruption

Tram operations in the area were halted for about 20 minutes before normal service resumed.

Legal Protection for Conductors

Conductors are afforded public‑official protection under Article 49a of the public transport act (2023 amendment), covering interventions at passenger areas and door zones.

This status means any assault is pursued by law enforcement as “public‑official misconduct.”
