In a coordinated effort, Warsaw police arrested a 43‑year‑old Turkish national on the night of the operation in the city’s heart, linking him to multiple killings, kidnappings and armed attacks in Istanbul.
International cooperation drives arrest
Joint work between Warsaw Metropolitan Police’s criminal unit and international counterparts led to the arrest of the suspect, who was on Interpol’s red notice list.
Suspect’s background and criminal links
The man is believed to be a member of an organized group operating in Istanbul that has carried out murders, kidnappings and armed attacks on civilians. Turkish authorities have issued a red notice for him.
Arrest operation in central Warsaw
Police, supported by the Central Bureau of Anti-Corruption, executed a targeted operation outside a restaurant on Żurawiej Street. Special security procedures were employed due to the suspect’s potential to be armed and his intent to flee.
Weapons seized and legal status
At the scene officers found a loaded firearm with a cartridge in the chamber and 26 rounds of ammunition. Following the arrest, the suspect was taken to the police headquarters on Wilcza Street and later to the court in Śródmieście where he was charged with unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.
Court proceedings and preventive detention
The Warsaw Śródmieście District Court accepted the prosecutor’s request and imposed a three‑month pre‑trial detention on the suspect. The case illustrates the effectiveness of Warsaw’s police units in neutralising high‑risk criminals.
