A collision between two trams on Piotrkowska Street in central Łódź on November 13 left 12 people wounded, police say.
Accident in City Center
Shortly before 13:00 on November 13, a serious accident occurred on Piotrkowska Street. Two trams collided when the operator of line 2 failed to exercise caution and struck the rear of a stationary line 3 tram at a traffic light. Approximately 120 passengers were aboard the two vehicles.
Injured Passengers
Twelve passengers sustained injuries. According to services, three were transported to hospital while the rest were treated at the scene. Most injuries were to the head and legs, and both drivers were sober.
Traffic Disruptions
Traffic was halted in both directions on the Piotrkowska segment. Trams of lines 2, 3, 6, 7, 11 and 19 were rerouted onto Żwirki and Kościuszki streets. Authorities urged drivers and passengers to avoid the area and exercise caution while investigators determine the exact circumstances.
